From October 28 to November 21, 2025, Makhambet Utemisov West Kazakhstan University held a methodical month on the topic: "Digital transformation of higher education: improving learning through AI tools". Within the framework of this methodological month, on 28.10.2025, an open practical lesson was held in the discipline "Civil law (general part)" in Group PD-21 of the educational program 6B04203 "Law enforcement service". Practical training was carried out on the basis of the Uralsk City Court №2 under the chairmanship of Judge Basyrbayev B. B. By participating in an open court session on consideration of claims related to the protection of property rights. In the practical lesson, the method of analyzing a specific case was used. Purpose of the lesson:
- Combining theoretical knowledge of students with real experience;
- Familiarization with the structure of the judicial system and the procedure of the court session;
- Development of legal culture, professional communication skills;
- Analyze legal documents and understand the role of participants in the process.
After the trial, in order to consolidate the material received and determine how much they have mastered it, students were given independent work assignments and a deadline was set.
The practical lesson contributed to the formation of students ' professional vision in the field of law, a deep understanding of the activities of the judicial system and increased interest in their profession. The lesson is of great practical importance, because students learned the practical application of legal norms by seeing a clear legal process.
During the lesson, students showed high interest and noticed the application of the rules of law by watching a real court case. The skills of legal thinking, differentiation of arguments and ethical behavior were formed.
On April 18, 2025, an intellectual game dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at the Faculty of History, Economics, and Law of M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan University.
Students of the “Jurisprudence” educational program took part in the event. The game brought together first- and second-year students in an engaging intellectual competition, where participants demonstrated a high level of legal literacy, logical thinking, and teamwork.
The game was organized by group YUR-12 under the guidance of senior lecturer of the “Law” program, Master of Legal Sciences A.K. Nurzhanova. Thanks to the professional approach and careful preparation, the event was conducted at a high level and attracted great interest among students.
The questions covered key aspects of the Constitution, its historical development, principles, and its significance in society. Participants actively engaged in each round, demonstrating their interest in legal education and civic responsibility.
Such events not only contribute to deepening knowledge but also foster respect for the law, promote patriotism, and encourage young people to actively participate in academic and public life.
Innovation in the 2025–2026 Academic Year
In the 2025–2026 academic year, the course “Fundamentals of Tactical Special Training” was introduced into the “Law Enforcement” educational program.
Main objectives of the course:
- to adapt students to military discipline;
- to develop special tactical skills;
- to prepare students for their future professional careers.
About the practical training
Within this course, 4th-year students completed practical training at the branch of the Military Technical School of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Uralsk.
This experience exchange was valuable for students because they:
- combined theoretical knowledge with practice;
- met professional military specialists;
- enhanced their professional skills.
During the training
During the sessions, students:
- learned drill and formation rules;
- became familiar with military greetings;
- studied the structure and operating principles of automatic weapons (through practical demonstrations).
The training was organized at a high level, and the information provided by military specialists was clear and well-structured.
Results and significance
Students showed great interest and active participation.

- developing discipline and responsibility.
On October 10, 2026, an off-site practical training session was organized at S. Kirov Recreation Park on the topics “Crime Scene Examination” and “Examination of a Corpse.” The event was attended by 4th-year students of the “Law” educational program of the Faculty of History, Economics and Law at M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan University, as well as faculty members of the program. In addition, experienced officers from the Department of Police of the West Kazakhstan Region were involved, providing professional guidance.
The purpose of the practical session was to develop students’ professional competencies, integrate theoretical knowledge with practice, and acquire essential skills in law enforcement activities. In particular, students practiced the algorithm for crime scene examination, including the procedures for identifying, collecting, recording, and documenting evidence. They also developed skills in applying forensic techniques, properly preparing procedural documents, and conducting legal assessments.
During the session, modern teaching and methodological approaches were widely applied, including:
- the case study method for analyzing real-life scenarios;
- situational modeling with reconstruction of a simulated crime scene environment;
- role-playing exercises assigning functions of investigator, forensic specialist, witness, and other participants in the process;
- group work and discussions aimed at developing analytical thinking and decision-making skills.
Students recognized the importance of соблюдение procedural requirements during crime scene examination and acquired mechanisms to ensure the admissibility of evidence. Special attention was paid to professional ethics, responsibility, and principles of teamwork.
As a result of the off-site practical training, students improved their skills in legal analysis, building an evidence base, and making prompt and well-reasoned decisions in real-life situations. This format of training plays a significant role in enhancing the professional preparation of future lawyers and their adaptation to labor market demands.
