On November 17, 2025, the Faculty of History, Economics and Law hosted an open class in the discipline “Philosophy” on the topic “Philosophy of Society and Culture: Intersection of Traditions and Technologies.” The event was held within the framework of the faculty’s teaching and methodological month and aimed at developing students’ analytical thinking, philosophical reflection, and understanding of key processes taking place in contemporary society. The class was conducted by Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Senior Lecturer Aizhan Muratovna Yessentayeva.
The guests of the open class included: Dean of the Faculty of History, Economics and Law, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor Altynai Shugaevna Zhurasova; representatives of academic programs in the social sciences: PhD, Senior Lecturer Askhat Zhangeldiyuly Amen, Senior Lecturers Aigerim Zhalgasovna Kuspanova and Aiya Aleksandrovna Kenzhegulova; Lecturer Nurshat Nurkhanovna Maimanova; and the university’s Competence Center methodologist Laura Zhasuzakovna Yermekbayeva.
The class was held with groups IST-21, IST-23, IADM-21 and IO (IP)-21. The most active participants in the discussion were: Orysbai Nesibeli (IO-21), Muratova Asylzhan, Ryskaliyeva Erkezhan, Garifolla Meirman (IST-21), and Urinova Zhayna (IADM-21).
Students demonstrated a high level of preparation, the ability to argue their viewpoints, and to engage in meaningful discussion.As part of the class, a presentation of thematic posters was organized. The works were prepared by: Muratova Asylzhan, Garifolla Meirman (IST-21); Erkebayeva Diana, Aizharik Nursultan (IST-23); Dauletbekkyzy Aktilek and Ismagulov Zhenis (IO (IP)-21); and Zhusip Gulzhanat and Urinova Zhayna (IADM-21). The posters reflected various aspects of the interaction between technology and culture: the influence of digital platforms on cultural practices, issues of preserving intangible heritage, and trends in the transformation of public consciousness.
Active learning techniques and group forms of work were used during the lesson. Active contributions were made by Oserbai Ainaz, Serikova Aruzhan, Amantai Syrga, Gazizullina Sabina, Zhasulanuly Nurtas, Bolat Saltanat, Akylbekova Ayazhan, Galymzhanova Aruzhan, Gabdolov Raiymbek, and Bolatov Nurtai.
During the discussion, students examined the following questions:
– How do modern technologies influence the cultural dynamics of society?
– What risks and opportunities does digitalization present for preserving traditions?
– How can a harmonious balance between innovation and cultural heritage be maintained?
By the end of the session, participants emphasized the importance of a philosophical approach to analyzing contemporary social processes and the need to cultivate a culture of critical thinking among young people.
